The Xavier University Department of Sport Science & Management offers undergraduate degrees in Sport Management and Sport Marketing, along with a graduate program in Sport Administration.  These programs are designed to offer students an education with a focus on practical skill development for a successful career in the sport industry.  Xavier University is located in Cincinnati, Ohio providing students a variety of sport experiences ranging from professional, intercollegiate, scholastic, and recreational sport.  The faculty at Xavier University offer students a comprehensive learning environment, aimed at merging business theory with practical application through case studies, guest speakers, project partnerships, and a required internship experience.

 

There are several benefits of receiving a degree in Sport Management, Sport Marketing, or Sport Administration from Xavier University.  First, each curriculum is designed to expose students to the latest knowledge and industry trends within a variety of different sport settings.  Faculty continuously seek integrate and evolve elective offerings to allow students an opportunity to select unique areas of interest related to their career aspirations in the sport industry.  Second, all faculty have experience working in the sport industry.  The array of diverse industry experiences and expertise among the faculty allow us to teach practical experience from a perspective of actual application, instead of just theory.  Finally, Xavier University is a Catholic Jesuit institution where each course prepares students to be wiser and more compassionate as a steward to a global society.  Student will be encouraged to discern on their impact to their communities, reflect on the world around them, and be challenged to do more than what is expected through high expectations of achievement.

As a student in the sport management program, you will gain the skills to lead and manage sport business organizations.  You will learn how to effectively organize, direct, budget and lead through integrative classroom experiences and internships with premier sport organizations.  You will have the opportunities to explore different career paths and partner with professors and industry leaders.  All students in the sport management major complete an internship.

B.S. in Sport Marketing - Campus

As a student in the sport marketing program, you will gain the skills necessary to market sport products and brands to consumers through a specialization in marketing content. This degree aims to focus elements of marketing including sales, sponsorship, market research, and consumer behavior.  Students will earn the uniqueness of the sport product and the emotional attachment consumers have the sport product that require a distinct area of study.

M.S. in Sports Administration - Online

Xavier University’s 30 credit hour Master of Science in Sport Administration online degree allows students to focus on a specific area of study within the sports industry through a curriculum focused on the business of sport, independent research projects, internship opportunities, field experiences and elective credits.  Students will take five required courses in the areas of Managerial Leadership, Finance, Marketing, Law, and Research.  In addition, student will have the opportunity to take 3 or 4 elective courses from a variety of different content areas.  Finally, student are required to complete either an internship or research project with in the sport industry.
