Georgia Southern University is the state’s largest and most comprehensive center of higher learning south of Atlanta — and one of the most dynamic public universities in the Southeast.

Founded in 1906, Georgia Southern has grown from a single-purpose college into a Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution with 149 degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels, serving 31,600 students from all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and more than 100 nations.

Four distinct campuses extend Georgia Southern’s reach across the region: a 900-acre quintessential college campus in Statesboro, anchored by Georgian-style red-brick buildings set among oaks and pines; the Armstrong Campus in Savannah, minutes from historic downtown and a short drive from the beaches of Tybee Island; a modern, purpose-built facility in Hinesville serving local and military-affiliated students; and the East Georgia Campus in Swainsboro, an outdoor oasis nestled on a 385-acre pine forest, offering expanded pathways to higher education for students across southeast Georgia.

Through ten colleges — the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing, the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Science and Mathematics, the Jack N. Averitt College of Graduate Studies, the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, the Parker College of Business, the Waters College of Health Professions and University College — Georgia Southern delivers academic programs backed by real-world experience, research with regional and national impact, and a faculty committed to helping every student go further than they thought possible.

Kennedy Finch (Assistant Director of Development - Major Gifts, University of Georgia Athletics)

"My name is Kennedy Finch, and I currently serve as the Assistant Director of Development for Major Gifts with the University of Georgia Athletic Association. The Georgia Southern Sport Management graduate program was instrumental in propelling my career to where it is today. The flexibility of the program, combined with my graduate assistantship with Georgia Southern Athletics, allowed me to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in college athletics while engaging in coursework that challenged me to think critically about various sectors and current trends within the sports industry. For anyone pursuing a career in sports, whether at the professional, collegiate, or recreational level, this program provides the knowledge and experience needed to stand out in a competitive job market. Georgia Southern not only prepared me professionally but also played a significant role in shaping who I am and the career path I am fortunate to be living today."

Brittany Gonzales (VP of Operations, Next Level Technician)

"During the time I was in the program, I was coaching full time at the collegiate level. Anyone in college athletics knows the time demand that comes with it and this program allowed me to both continue my education and be 100% present as a coach. I believe this coursework helped me both in preparation for leadership and being able to lead different types of people as well as strategize from an operational standpoint. While I'm not longer in athletics, those components were invaluable for wherever my career takes me."

Indy Cooper (Assistant Sports Information Director, Jacksonville State University Athletics)

"The flexibility of the program stood out to me during my time at Georgia Southern. I was able to fully apply myself to my classwork while also immersing myself in my work in athletics communications, without sacrificing quality in either of those. The structure allowed me to gain hands-on experience in my field during my studies that I would not have been able to get anywhere else."

Ethan Leonard (Associate, NAI Brannen Goddard)

"The most valuable part of the program was the out of the classroom experiences. I was able to teach a class to a group of adults, I helped run a golf tournament, learned how to deal with sponsorships, interview industry professionals, learn how to use linked in, etc. These experiences helped me grow as an individual. It gave me industry experience while being a student, which was great."

Coriana McGee (Annual Giving Coordinator, Georgia Southern University)

"The Sport Management graduate program at Georgia Southern is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing students to balance a full-time job, live in different locations—even across continents—and navigate varying time zones while successfully completing their degree. The program’s structure supports different learning paces, whether you prefer to move quickly or follow the course timeline. Additionally, the cohort model creates a strong sense of community. You progress through the program alongside peers who become trusted friends and support systems throughout the two-year journey, making the experience both flexible and collaborative."

Joshua Denham (Retail Brand Ambassador, Atlanta Hawks)

"The most valuable part of my experience in the program was being able to interact and collaborate with other students who have similar career interests and goals. It was helpful to be around people who were also passionate about the sports industry because it created opportunities to share ideas, learn from each other, and build connections. I also valued hearing different perspectives from both students and instructors because everyone brought their own experiences and understanding of sports business, which contributed to the overall learning environment."

Andrew Highfield (Assistant Director of Facilities and Game Operations, Marshall University)

"My experience with the Georgia Southern Master’s Program was an amazing one. This program allowed me to work at my own pace and have access to the professors at any time. Most importantly is allowed me to continue working in the collegiate sports industry as a graduate assistant in the Georgia Southern Athletic Department. Then I was able to accept a job 3 months after graduating. For anyone considering the program, I would highly recommend applying."
