Master's in Sport Management
With the expansion of both recreational and spectator sports and
society's increasing concern over healthful lifestyles athletic administration
and fitness management are both growing more complex. As a result, successful
organizations in the sports industry are increasingly looking for tomorrow's
leaders to have specialized training at the graduate level.
The Master's Program in Sport Management provides professional
preparation for management and leadership positions with professional sports
teams, intercollegiate and intramural athletics and recreation programs at
colleges and universities and amateur athletic organizations. Profession
preparation is also given for careers in private and public health and fitness
clubs, corporate fitness and wellness programs, sports stadia and arenas, and
the sports marketing, management and communications firms that service the larger
marketplace.

Samantha Talavera - Arizona State University
Leaving my home in Arizona to move to attend USF was a daunting task. Having only a fan-based experience with sports, I was eager to learn where studying Sport Management could take me. After starting the program, I quickly felt a connection, and knew this was where I belonged. From the constant support of the faculty and staff, as well as the friendships and connections made within the cohort experience, the USF Sport Management graduate program provides every tool and a real-world understanding of the business, to create the most qualified and well respected group of young sport professionals in the industry. Not only have I been able to take advantage of the endless amount of professional contacts provided by the program to secure a job with the San Francisco Giants, I have found a family in the support system surrounding me and feel confident that the contacts I make will lead me to a successful career in the future.
Matthew Howard - University of Victoria Canada
After moving to San Francisco for the USF Sport Management program I quickly realized I was in the right spot. The levels of commitment and support from all faculty and staff are remarkable. Unlike some Universities the USF program offers a comprehensive education that covers all of a Sport Management Masters as opposed to a specific track. This truly allows students to gain a wide knowledge base but also to key in on what they truly want to pursue. The program has given me the tools to build upon my previous skill set and prepare my attitudes for life in the competitive sport business world.
Laura Gustin - University of Iowa
When I came across the University of San Francisco Sport Management program, I knew I had found the right place. The Southern California branch allows me to live in the city I love, maintain a full time job, and attain a master's degree within two years in a field that I am extremely passionate about. The faculty, staff, and fellow classmates are supportive of my every move, and push me to limits I didn't even know I had. My decision to attend the University of San Francisco was one of the best decisions of my life. If you are looking for a unique opportunity that will give you the resources needed to excel within the sport industry, I would highly recommend this program.
Maria Lashinger - Penn State University
The USF Sport Management Program has given me the opportunity and confidence to change careers at a time when jobs are scarce in this country. The individual attention and concern for each student was evident from the first contact with USF’s amazing faculty and staff. The extensive network of alumni, professors, and program directors gives new students an instant connection to the sports industry, and the program gives students the opportunity to use their classroom learning in a professional setting through the remarkable internship program. Time and time again, through my various internships, I have seen that USF Sport Management students are the interns who get the job done. Ultimately, they are the ones who earn the full-time position because of the hard work and dedication instilled in them throughout the course of the program.
