In my online search for ‘best Sport & Rec grad program,’ Temple’s Master of Science in Sport Business program kept popping up. My choice was simple when I asked friends and mentors about the best place to pursue my master’s and they said: ‘Temple University” without hesitation. The graduate curriculum combines universally-valued business skills and best-practices that are unique to the sport industry. The professors are the field’s leading experts and encourage independent creativity as well as group success. This program takes a holistic and realistic approach to studying the sport and recreation business that helped prepare me for both the day-to-day decision making I do in my work as well as the fast-paced change that is characteristic of sport. I was able to take the tools I developed in business management, marketing, finance, legal issues, and consumer behavior into my current position with a professional franchise. The relationships I formed while attending STHM have continued to help aid me in my career path.

Steve Ryan Vice President of Business Development Arizona Cardinals
Growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, I have always had a passion for the sport industry. The courses and internships I had while in the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management helped launch my career as Director of Marketing and Sales for the Philadelphia Eagles. While with the Eagles, I was able maintain the franchise’s financial successes by developing sponsorships and by cultivating strong ties with the Philadelphia community. While it was tough to leave my hometown, the opportunity to take my career to the next level and to apply the skills I acquired at Temple in an executive management position was one I could not pass up. And, here I am today with the Arizona Cardinals. No matter where your career in sport and recreation takes you, Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management and the city of Philadelphia are great places to start.
