The Master of Sport Administration (MSA) Program at Canisius College has various elements that make it unique. The MSA program offers both an on campus as well as an online program. The on campus program requires students to take MBA courses. These MBA courses are associated with the Richard J. Wehle School of Business, which is an AACSB accredited MBA program. Students are required to take 12 credit hours of MBA courses. The MSA program focuses on the importance of specialization as students have the opportunity to specialize in different areas such as professional sport, intercollegiate athletics and facility management, just to name a few. Also, with a 6 credit hour internship requirement for all students, internships make up another element of the program. The internship is the capstone experience designed to give students practical experience in a variety of settings in the sport industry. The internship may be completed with a sport organization anywhere in the United States or internationally, so therefore it gives students the opportunity to work with diverse groups of people in companies and organizations from places around the world. The faculty in the Sport Administration program play quite a fundamental role for students. MSA professors are current leaders in the sport industry, and what is unique is that they bring their expertise and contacts with others in the field to the classroom. Many members of our faculty have actually graduated from the MSA program at Canisius College so therefore, the faculty members focus heavily on coursework that students can learn from and apply in their future careers. The MSA program includes professors from international countries as well, which effectively allows students to grasp and understand the importance of a global perspective in the world of sports. Lastly, with Canisius College being located in Buffalo, New York, which is a sports driven city, students have great access to unique opportunities from the various sports teams within the city.
